Driven by Martin Luther King Jr’s declaration that "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere," Cory has dedicated his public service career to protecting and advancing the rights of all Americans, especiallythe most vulnerable. He is committed to ensuring all people can live free from discrimination, regardless of their race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, or immigration status. Cory has championed numerous pieces of legislation affirming these rights, including the Do No Harm Act, CROWN Act, Equality Act, and HOME Act. He authored legislation to prevent workplace discrimination against family caregivers who are currently ineligible for any form of protection under federal law. In 2022, he authored thebipartisanEmmett Till Anti-Lynching Act, which was signed into law after Congressional attempts to pass an anti-lynching bill for 100 yearshad failed. He also led colleagues in successfully urging the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to remove barriers that prevent DACA recipients from accessing health insurance through the ACA and CHIP.
