WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ), a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, issued the following statement after the Biden-Harris administration announced their decision to finalize a rule allowing eligible DACA recipients to enroll in Affordable Care Act coverage.

“I applaud the Biden-Harris administration’s decision to finalize the rule granting DACA recipients access to affordable health care. For far too long, DACA recipients have faced unjust barriers to accessing essential health care services, depriving them of their fundamental right to health care. This decision rectifies this longstanding injustice, and acknowledges the vital role Dreamers play in our society. We must also continue to advocate for comprehensive immigration reform that ensures Dreamers are provided with the security and opportunity that recognizes the remarkable contributions they have made and continue to make to our country. The responsibility falls on all of us in Congress to pass legislation that grants Dreamers permanent status and a pathway to citizenship.”

Last November, Senator Booker wrote a letter urging the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to finalize their proposed rule to expand health coverage for those participating in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, crime victims, and immigrant children.
