U.S. Sen. Cory Booker on Saturday will continue talking to jobless New Jerseyans about the urgent need for Congress to extend emergency unemployment insurance for the long-term unemployed.  Booker will meet with a group of professionals at Passaic County Community College to discuss how the loss of unemployment insurance is affecting them.  Congressman Bill Pascrell will join Booker in Paterson.

In an effort to continue to highlight the urgency of Congressional action to help the long-term jobless, at Tuesday's State of the Union Address, Booker invited Gerri Battista, an unemployed Frenchtown resident who had been receiving federal emergency unemployment insurance while searching for a job and taking professional certification classes. The federal unemployment benefits lapsed for 1.3 million Americans, including more than 90,000 New Jerseyans, on December 28.  Last weekend, Booker completed an 11-stop tour of New Jersey, where he spoke with long-term unemployed workers at diners, private homes and community centers across the state about the vital importance of extending federal emergency unemployment insurance.

Booker will start his day by delivering welcoming remarks at the Faith, Family & Fatherhood Summit at Metropolitan Church in Newark New Jersey.
