Washington, D.C. - U.S. Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) today issued the following statement after the Senate passed the Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act of 2014, which he co-sponsored with U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ):

"Today, I was pleased to join my colleagues in voting for the Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act - legislation that is vital to residents in communities across New Jersey. As insurance premiums skyrocket, flood insurance affordability is critical to the economic security of so many New Jerseyans, many of whom are still trying to pick up the pieces in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy. Without this legislation, many homeowners, who FEMA has deemed live in high-risk areas, will be priced out of their homes because they simply won't be able to foot their insurance bills. I am proud of the Senate today for taking action to protect families in New Jersey and around the U.S."

"I urge my colleagues in the House to pass this vital legislation."
