(WASHINGTON, DC) – U.S. Senators Robert Menendez and Cory Booker (both D-NJ) today announced $51,680 in federal funding to the Westville Fire Department to replace antiquated rescue equipment. The funding is awarded through the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Assistance (FEMA) to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program.

“Making sure New Jersey’s brave firefighters have the best training and equipment available in order to respond safely and swiftly to an emergency is a top priority and that’s why this federal funding is such an important investment,” said Sen. Menendez. “We have to do everything we can to ensure our fire departments have the tools necessary to protect our communities every day."

"Every day we send our firefighters into harm's way. We have an obligation to ensure our first responders have the latest equipment to respond to emergencies," said Sen. Booker. "This grant will enable Westville's fire department to effectively equip their firefighters and better protect the Westville community."

Today's grant award:

$51,680 for the Westville Fire Department to replace antiquated rescue equipment such as an inflatable bag that lifts overturned cars off of people pinned underneath.
