NEWARK, NJ – U.S. Senators Robert Menendez and Cory Booker (both D-NJ) today announced $500,000 in federal funding for an improvement project to remove obstructions at the Cape May County Airport. The funding comes from the Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration.

“Funding to help improve our municipal airports is an important part of keeping air travel safe and reliable,” said Menendez. “New Jersey’s airports wouldn’t be able to thrive and help drive our economic growth without strong federal investments.”

“I am pleased to join Sen. Menendez in announcing the funding of necessary improvements to the Cape May County Airport,” said Booker. “This federal investment is vital to ensuring the safety of local residents and visitors, and growing the regional economy. I look forward to continuing my work with the Department of Transportation to address the needs of airports across our state.”

The specific award will remove approximately 20 acres of on-airport obstructions on runways 1/19 and 10/28 at the Cape May County Airport in Wildwood, NJ.
