Today, U.S. Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) issued the following statement after the Supreme Court’s 5-3 decision in Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt, which struck down provisions in Texas law that restricted abortion access in the state and placed an unconstitutional burden on women seeking reproductive care and services.

“The barriers Texas lawmakers imposed on reproductive rights threatened women’s health and freedom. Today, the Supreme Court rightly found those barriers to be unconstitutional and affirmed that a woman’s right to make her own medical decisions is an immutable, constitutional right. This ruling comes at a critical time and sends a clear message: politicians have no place intruding in a woman’s most personal healthcare decisions.”
