Washington, DC – U.S. Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) issued the following statement:
“The independent CBO just shattered any illusion that the Senate Republican health repeal bill is any less cruel and craven than the version passed by the House.
“Under the Senate Republican plan, by next year, 15 million fewer Americans will have health coverage, and by 2026, 22 million fewer Americans will be covered -- not to mention the millions more who would be left with worse coverage and higher premiums, all to give the wealthy few a tax cut.
“The nation founded on the basis of life, liberty and justice for all should be a place where health care is a right -- not a privilege reserved for the fortunate few. This repeal plan doesn’t just target the vulnerable, the elderly and the poor. It targets all of us. It undermines our character as a country and our highest ideals.”
