WASHINGTON, DC – Since U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) and U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) introduced their Leveraging and Energizing America’s Apprenticeship Programs (LEAP) Act earlier this week, the legislation has received support from across the ideological spectrum. Respected think tanks and organizations like the Center for American Progress, American Enterprise Institute and Young Invincibles have embraced the LEAP Act, which provides a tax credit to employers to help increase the number of registered apprenticeships in the U.S. to put more people to work and help fill the 4 million job vacancies across the United States.
Here’s a sample of what’s been written about the bill:
Center for American Progress: “Enacting the LEAP Act will create a new incentive for businesses to hire apprentices by helping them offset some of the training costs.” Read full article here
American Enterprise Institute: “Our recent AEI Economic Study on Upward Mobility discusses how a challenging labor market and high rates of unemployment can lead to poor social mobility. While pro-growth policies would be a powerful antidote to the jobs crisis, these reforms take time. Immediate programs are needed to get Americans back to work, especially programs that address the skills gap… Fortunately, such policy proposals are not hard to come by… Yesterday, Senators Cory Booker and Tim Scott unveiled the LEAP Act.” Read full article here
Young Invincibles: “Making sure that young people have the skills they need to succeed in their careers is key to driving down youth unemployment and maximizing their economic opportunities, apprenticeships do just that. We know that youth unemployment costs every American, so we applaud Senators Booker and Scott for working across the aisle to combat this profound crisis.” Read full article here
