WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) today announced that 11 schools in New Jersey, both public and private, have been selected for the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program by the U.S. Department of Education.

The coveted and highly selective program honors high achieving elementary, middle, and high schools that are making notable improvements in closing the achievement gap. “Quality education is the single most important tool we can equip our young people with if we truly want to remain competitive in a global, knowledge-based society,” said Sen. Booker. “I am extremely proud of the schools selected to receive this distinct recognition and am committed to ensuring New Jersey’s schools work toward the common goal of preparing all of our youth for academic achievement.”

Nationally, 287 public and 50 private schools were selected. Representative from the schools will travel to Washington, D.C., on Nov. 10-11 for a recognition ceremony.
