WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., today issued a statement following President Obama’s final State of the Union address:
“Tonight, the President gave an impassioned call to action on the work left to do in his presidency. From reforming our broken criminal justice system, to advancing common sense measures to reduce gun violence, to investing in the potential of our nation’s most valuable resource – our people – tonight can serve as an opportunity to refocus our politics not on what divides us but on what brings us together as Americans. I know we can achieve meaningful change on these and other priorities, even in an election year, even in a politically charged atmosphere. In this new year, I pledge to be part of the solution in Congress, working to solve the challenges that confront us through unity and cooperation. I call on my colleagues to do the same.”
