WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Sens. Cory Booker (D-NJ) and Robert Menendez (D-NJ) today announced the awarding of a $357,208 grant from the Department of Veterans Affairs to install an emergency generator at the Vineland Veterans Memorial Home in Vineland, New Jersey.
“It’s imperative that we provide our veterans – men and women who put their lives on the line to protect our liberty – with the best care and services possible,” the senators said. “This Veterans Affairs grant will help improve the safety and quality of care for New Jerseyans in Vineland who were willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for our country.”
The Vineland Veterans Memorial Home is the state's oldest operating veteran’s home, having originally opened its doors in 1899. The Vineland Home has provided long-term care to New Jersey Veterans of every war and armed conflict since the War of 1812. A new replacement facility was constructed and opened its doors in 2005. This new state-of-the-art nursing home has 268 skilled nursing home beds and a 32-bed Special Therapeutic Needs Unit and serves a total population of 300 residents.
