WASHINGTON – U.S. Sens. Cory Booker, D-N.J., and Robert Menendez, D-N.J., today applauded President Obama’s nomination of Brian Martinotti to the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
“I know Brian Martinotti to be an exceptionally capable jurist who presides with an abiding commitment to integrity and justice,” Sen. Booker said. “Brian’s distinguished career as a civil trial attorney and judge on New Jersey’s Superior Court have prepared him to effectively serve the people of New Jersey and our nation on the federal bench. I look forward to celebrating his swift confirmation by the Judiciary Committee and the full Senate.”
“For over ten years, Judge Martinotti has shown that he has the legal judgement and judicial temperament to be an excellent addition to the New Jersey District Court,” Sen. Menendez said. “I whole-heartily endorse his nomination to the bench. I urge my colleagues and the Judiciary Committee to swiftly confirm this eminently qualified nominee.”
Brian Martinotti graduated from Fordham University in 1983 and Seton Hall Law School, cum laude, in 1986. He practiced as a Certified Civil Trial Attorney and was a partner at Beattie Padovano, LLC, until 2002, when he was appointed to the Superior Court of New Jersey, serving in the Civil Division. In 2009, Martinotti was appointed by the chief justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court as one of New Jersey’s three mass tort judges. Martinotti lives in Cliffside Park with his wife, Dana Martinotti, a member of the Cliffside Park Borough Council. Their son, Christian, serves in the United States Air Force; their daughter, Briana, attends Loyola University Maryland.
