WASHINGTON, D.C.U.S. Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) issued the following statement:

“The brave men and women serving in uniform here in the United States and abroad deserve our steadfast commitment to their readiness and success. The FY 2019 NDAA not only authorizes the resources our military needs to protect our national security, it provides the tools our troops need to keep themselves safe in the field. Furthermore, this legislation includes a much-deserved pay raise for our men and women in uniform – the largest military pay raise in nine years – and provisions for finally reforming the Uniform Code of Military Justice to make domestic violence a crime. Finally, the bill overturns the Trump administration’s lenient settlement with China over ZTE’s violation of US sanctions.

“This NDAA was far from perfect, and I had concerns about several provisions it contained – including a provision undermining the role of Congress in nuclear weapons program development, which is why I supported an amendment to remove it.  On balance, given its importance and positive impact on our troops, I voted to support giving our troops the resources they need.”
