Jersey City, N.J. – U.S. Sen. Cory Booker D-N.J., delivered remarks today at the grand opening of The We Are One New Jersey Hudson County Center, New Jersey’s first labor-led immigrant advocacy, naturalization and empowerment center.

Sen. Booker joined Sen. Robert Menendez and Rep. Albio Sires also D-N.J. as well as Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto, Hudson County Executive Thomas DeGise, National AFL-CIO Executive Vice President Tefere Gebre, New Jersey State AFL-CIO President Charles Wowkanech, Women Rising Inc. Executive Director Sister Roseann Mazzeo and other Hudson County Elected officials for the ceremony.

“The social, economic and cultural contributions of immigrants have made New Jersey and our country what it is today,” said Sen. Booker. “The We Are One New Jersey center will provide much-needed guidance and assistance to immigrants who are navigating what can be a complicated process to achieving citizenship. Naturalized citizens are able to engage fully in government, allowing them to build stronger communities where there voice can be officially heard.”

The We Are One New Jersey Hudson County Center provides U.S citizenship application assistance, preparatory classes for the citizenship test, voter registration and a deeper understanding of workplace rights.
